What Is NUCCA?

So…what is NUCCA?

Typical Adjustment

Typical Adjustment

If it is found that your body is suffering from a Subluxation, the NUCCA procedure can begin to help your body start back down the road of recovery. Based on the precise x-rays taken of your body, the doctor is able to assess how to return the body back to the proper position. The good news is, this procedure is pain free! In fact, when the procedure is being performed most patients are unaware that anything is even happening. The NUCCA adjustment is performed by the doctor using the palm of the hand rested against the upper cervical/neck area of the patient. During the adjustment the patient is lying down on their side. The pressure applied to the patient is no more than the amount of pressure felt when the pulse is being taken in the wrist!

Before and After Adjustment

Before and After Adjustment

When the procedure is performed correctly, there should be an immediate change in the body balance of the individual. This is a sign to the doctor that things are moving in the right direction. As a result, the patient’s body is given the best chance to start truly healing. But, it does not stop there. NUCCA is unique in that there is no guess work. After the first adjustment, and only on first two visits, a follow-up x-ray is used to ensure that the adjustment was successful. The doctor will run a detailed analysis to make sure that the Subluxation is removed. There is never any guesswork! The doctor will always know your progress every step of the way as you move towards better health.

Frequently Asked questions:

Q: Should I be concerned about x-rays?

A: Absolutely not. The established guidelines for personal x-ray safety are no more than 5,000 mrem a year. A typical CT scan is 800 mrem. A single NUCCA X-ray is 3. That’s right, only 3mrem. The most difficult of cases would rarely receive more than 30 mrem in an entire 1st year.

Q: What do you do on the follow up visits and why do I need them?

A: On follow up visits the doctor runs a series of tests to determine if the body is still holding the adjustment or if the Subluxation has returned. If the Subluxation has returned another NUCCA adjustment is necessary. It is the goal of Back Into Balance to see every patient as little as possible! As you continue to “hold” your adjustment and proper alignment is restored, we start to space apart your follow-up visits. We were not meant to spend our lives 3 times a week at a doctor’s office for the rest of our lives. To help attain this goal as quickly as possibly patients undergo a Vivatek session each time they are in the office.
